Using Tables to arrange and sort information and text.

One of the most powerful functions of web editors is their ability to create tables. Tables are graphical boxes on a webpage. The Table function on Netscape Composer can be used by clicking on the relevant icon on the right hand end of the toolbar.

The table editor screen allows you to set variables such as the number of columns and rows, alignment of text and pictures within individual cells, colours and line thickness.

When you have chosen the size of your table you can begin to type text into the boxes.

One excellent feature of Netscape Composer is the Table Properties function. To use this just click on a cell within a table using the right hand mouse button. This will allow you to alter the colour of individual cells or even insert a background graphic.

Can you see where tables have been used on this page?
