Resizing graphics using Paintshop Pro:

This skills is essential if you want your site to look good and download quickly. When you use a picture from a digital camera it may be 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels high. Although you can drag the edges of a picture in a web editor to make it look smaller, it is exactly the same picture that downloads. This is one of the biggest problems with many school websites.

Resizing involves reducing the physical size of a picture using a graphics program.

To start, load a picture that you wish to make smaller, then choose resize from the Image menu.

A Resize box will appear that allows you to choose a newe height or width for the picture. (If the maintain aspect ratio tick box is checked you need only enter one value and the picture will still look in the correct proportions when it has resized.)

Sizes in the region of 200 pixels wide are recommended for fast download times.

The finished picture after resizing will download much, much faster.
