YEAR 5 have been carrying out a Scientific study of a river in the Troutbeck valley.

This picture shows Simone in the river of Troutbeck. We were timing how long it took an orange to travel 20m with the water.

In this picture the children are making a profile of the river by measuring the depth every 25cm.

This is some children examining small creatures from the river. We caught a fish - It was a trout!

We used a net to catch things in the water.

Troutbeck river is a fast stream with many rapids. On the banks there are some nice trees.

These children are waiting for an orange to float down to them.

We had a great day paddling in the freezing cold water of Troutbeck river.
