Year 1's visit to the Sawmill

Year 1 went to the sawmill at Coniston. The National Trust took us there in a mini bus.
The first thing we saw were some tractors. We met the men who worked at the mill. Mr Woodburn told us all about wood and the machines.

This machine had six blades that split the logs into square posts.
All the machines were switched off for safety.

They use a chainsaw for cutting down the trees on National Trust land. His trousers were very thick so that he would not be cut by the chainsaw.
