Art Exchange
with Lanercost Primary School - Cumbria |
We have been carrying out an E-mail art project between Ambleside and Lanercost Primary Schools in Cumbria and Edleston C.P.S. in Crewe. We swapped written descriptions of our locations with each other via e-mail and then painted pictures from the descriptions we received.
The other schools involved have also made webpages about these projects:
Lanercost Primary School pages - http://www.brampton53.freeserve.co.uk/Writing.htm
Edleston C.P.S. Character descriptions - http://www.edlestoncps.freeserve.co.uk/Descriptions.htm
These examples are paintings by Year 4 at Ambleside from descriptions sent by Lanercost School

The View From Our Window Looking out of an Infant Room window, we see a small piece of the playground and there's a side wall made with stone. It has a carpet of moss to keep us all in! After that you can see a winding country road by a beautifully cut hedge, guarding a cricket field where we play. Beyond that a field for the farmer's cows. To the right there are oak trees and a yew tree in the graveyard of the Priory, surrounded by old stone graves. Beyond that you can see the old sand-stone priory, with its windowless and roof-less ruins. |

Description of Our Wood The first thing you can see is the corner of our playground. Behind it is a stone wall. Beyond the wall is a gravel lonning (a rough track). To the left there is a small wooden shed with a tint of green, weathered paint. To the right there are two wooden gates. After the gates there is a small wood with a track leading up the hill behind. Each side of the track is full of leaning trees and bushes. To the right of the first gate, the other wooden gate leads onto a field at the side. |

Our Pond There is a wooden fence with a wooden gate in the middle with a lock on it. At the back there is an old stone wall with logs at the back on the high ground above it. On the right there is a tree with blossom on it and a bird table to the left of it. There is a small pine tree next to the bird table. There is grass around the pond and flowers too. There are weeds, frogs and tadpoles in the pond. |
