| Tonik
Trouble! Tonik has
bitten again but this time it is not a human, it
is COOKIE. Peter was holding Cookie and Robert
was holding Tonik. The two boys were holding the
animals about half a metre away from each other.
Then Tonik flung him self towards Cookie and hung
without letting go. Peter pulled of Tonik while
Cookie was screaming her head off."This is
it," says Mr Robinson, "if we don't get
100 e-mails asking to save him in the next week,
Tonik will have to be put down."
Nickie
attacks with vengance!
Nickie
our class guinea-pig has attacked a girl in our
class. Emma who was holding Nickie, got bitten.
Blood
poured from Emma's injured finger as Emma was
told to run it under the cold tap when she had
run it under
the tap
for a bit Emma was told to go down to the office
to have a plaster put on her finger which was
badly hurting at the time. Fortunately Emma's
finger has recovered from the cut.
Tonik's
Teeth bite again!
Tonik,
Yr6's class gerbil, has sunk his teeth into yet
another person but this time not into a boy it
was a girl. Melanie was holding Tonik in class
when we think he smelt Jin our other class
gerbil, and he made his second attack. Melanie's
finger was bleeding and didn't stop for a good
ten minutes. She had to go down to the toilets
and wash her finger but it still kept bleeding,
she later had to have a plaster put onto her
injured finger.
Tonik's
days at Ambleside may be numbered. If you think
we should keep Tonik, please send an E-mail to
rodent roundup. Please say yes. It's computer
expert, Mr Robinson (also teacher) who wants him
gone.

leaving us ;-(
Heartbreaking news. The
creators of Rodent Roundup are leaving the
rodents behind and are going to secondary school.
They are being handed on to the new year 6. The
rodents hope that they will be as kind and as
loving as this class. They are going to miss them
very much.
TONIK ATTACK!
Tonik showed his dark
side today (Monday 7th June.) He viciously
attacked his unsuspecting victim after he was
welcomed back to school.

The attacker and his victim
It was a usual morning at the
school. Tonik was handled and then put away
everything was normal but horror struck the next
break time. The gerbils were picked up and then
they began to sniff each other. Then suddenly Jin
& Tonik started to fight. Jin leaped at Tonik
and a whiff of Jins scent went over him. He
immediatly retaliated and sunk his fangs into
Josh's hand thinking that it was Jin. The next 30
seconds were terrible. Jin fell on the floor and
scuttled for safety. Meanwhile Tonik hung onto
Josh's hand, his teeth sinking deeper and deeper
into the flesh. Josh lay on a table screaming in
agony. Still Tonik hung on. Howard ran over to
Josh and began to shake his hand and in a
struggle to free it from the dreaded fangs of the
angry gerbil. Finally Tonik let go and jumped
onto the table and began to wander around. He was
quickly put into his cage and soon after Jin was
caught too. Howard says that Josh's hand was
lucky to be in one piece.
We are hoping the teachers
don't demand he gets put down!
We've got a new Gerbil!
We have just got a new gerbil
called Tonik. He is only 8 weeks old and is the
same colour as Jin. He was bought on Saturday
15th May 1999. We are hoping that he will mate
with the energetic gerbil known as Jin. We are
wanting some baby gerbils so we can watch them
grow.

It has been a quiet Christmas
for our rodents. There have been no major escapes
or breakouts to report. Jin and the Guinea-Pigs
have got bigger. They were all at Mrs Bagots
house over Christmas.Mrs Bagot gets the
Guinea-Pigs mixed up because at Mrs Bagots house
they are called Ren and Stimpy.
There is a rota in our class
for holding the Guinea-Pigs and the Gerbil they
have been accepted into our class. People say
they are cute and cuddly. Sometimes people's mums
come in and see them but some mums don't really
like them.

THE GREAT ESCAPE!
The search was on at
Ambleside Primary School when year 6's class pet,
Jin the Gerbil, escaped on Friday night and ran
loose in the school for 7 days causing heartbreak
and despair.
Jin escaped on the 16th October
while year 6 were having a nice weekend. It was
thought that she had climbed up onto her tube,
then onto her water bottle, tore the netting lid
and clambered out. On Monday when year 6 came
back they were heartbroken to hear from their
class teacher, Mrs Bagot, that Jin had gone for a
run. The search began that day. A week later on
the 23rd, Year 3 found some chewed paper in their
teacher's paper cupboard. It could only be Jin.
Mrs Bagot and Howard, (the boy who had given
Jin to the class) went to search for her.
Whilst emptying the cupboard Jin made a dash for
a nearby book case and was tricked into running
down a tube. As she was returned to her cage
everybody cheered!
