ROBOTICS @ AMBLESIDE C.E. PRIMARY SCHOOL

Robots are taking over at Ambleside and we are not talking about the teachers!

We have two LEGO Robotics Invention Systems in school with various pieces of control software on the computers to program them. We also have a 'huge' box of LEGO TECHNIC to extend our robots. Like our computers, children are encouraged to use these sets in their own time as well as during lessons. Follow the links on this page to see some children's webpages about the robots they have made. Or if you are a pupil at Ambleside why not face the 'Robo-Challenges' (New for 2000)

VIEW THE CURRENT ROBO-CAM TRANSMISSION - Live during school hours.

ENTER THE "REAL ROBOT WARS" - If you are a pupil at Ambleside you can tackle our regular "Real Robot War Challenges."

SOME OF THE CHILDREN'S PERSONAL ROBOT PAGES:
Use the pulldown menu at the left to see them all!

IT'S WAR! - Off to Reading we go!! - Check out our Robots!

TRAFFIC LIGHTS - Click here to see Peter's webpage describing how we made two robots talk to each other without any wires!

Single Motor Tank - Pieran in Year 4 has built a robot tank chassis that can steer using only one motor. Follow his construction guide!
R3-D3 - A well made, single motor design that responds to it's environment through a pair of touch sensors. By Jessica and Eleanor.
Wheely-Deely - A very clever use of two touch sensors. This is not a real robot because it needs to be controlled 'live' by a human operator but it is still very impressive.
The Grabber - A very, very sophisticated design with a complex series of mechanisms. Check out the downloadable video on Peter's webpage!
Bumper - Flat-out racing robot that can survive collisions at high speed! Note the special use of flexible part to cushion shocks!
Josh Bot (Line Follower) - A classic robot design often used in industry where robots follow lines on the floor of a factory.
OK There is always one isn't there! One that always goes too far! - Sadly there is a complete Collective of them at Ambleside! - Click here to meet the BORG and be assimilated!
