LEGO MINDSTORMS

A big box at a big price. Contains two motors, Lego Technic pieces to build with , wheels, gears and electronic gismos. The coolest parts are the light and touch sensors and the brain. You programme your robot on the computer screen and an ingenious black box then sends your procedures to the brain on your robot.

This is the robot that Robert, Martin and I have made. We have designed and programmed it to follow a black line track that we have drawn on 6 pieces of A3 paper. It does this by using its light sensor. It waddles around the track and when it comes to a corner it suddenly accelerates to find its way back on to the track. You have to be careful that it doesn't fall off the table. In the picture you can see the LCD screen. This shows a lego man walking when the robot moves and standing still when the robot is stationary.

In this picture you can see the blue lego brick which is the light sensor. The red patch of light is coming from the light sensor and this is how it detects the black line.
If you want to visit a super cool web-site go to the Lego Mindstorms web-site. You can see what other people have made and there are some weird creations. You can see pictures of my favourites from that web-site below.
