Rescue!
Year 1 visited the Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team as part of the topic 'People Who Help Us' to find out about the work of this important local emergency service.
"I like the mountain
rescue van. Equipment is on the top of the roof."

"This is the radio room.
They talk to the police, the ambulance and to the rescuers
on the mountains."

"This is a stretcher and
you need 8 people to carry it."

"Ebony's daddy was
pretending to have fallen off the mountain."

"This is the splint for
broken legs. When it was pumped with air it went big
and hard."
Lorna
"These are the rucksacks
with medecine and some oxygen to help people breathe."
Dean
"The
oxygen goes into their bodies through the mask."
Joe
"There is a fax machine
and a telephone to find out information."
Elizabeth.
"This board has
information about how many times they are sent onto the mountains
to rescue people each year."
