Our
current favourite:
There's
a nice Cumbrian town called Ambleside,
Which is a magnet for tourists and rain,
And in the height of the summer,
The people crowd in once again.
A
particular family called Lincoln,
Came for a visit one day,
Dressed for a walk up the mountains,
So they asked the locals,"Which way?"
The
locals were feeling mischievous,
"Directions!"they thought,"What a chance,
To send them on a wild goose chase,
They might even end up in France!"
They
looked at the maps of the fell side,
They pointed at rivers and paths,
They found them the hardest route ever,
And dissolved into giggles and laughs.
The
Lincolns began with enthusiasm,
To tackle the hard walk ahead,
They puffed and they panted up cliff sides,
Then they slipped, and ended up dead.
The
fell rescue had to be sent for,
And, boy, were they quick off the mark,
With their ropes, and their back packs and chopper,
The mission was over by dark.
The
rescue leader got proper angry,
When he heard what the locals had done,
To send tourists up the wrong fell side,
And kill them off just for fun.
The
locals were cross at this lecture,
That their actions were ruled out of line,
After all tourists aren't that endangered,
And it's a good way of passing the time!
