This
picture shows our Junior Department and the village of Ambleside.
The hill in the background is Wansfell.
Each
day, hundreds of walkers and tourists pass past our school to visit
the park and river, or to climb the surrounding fells.
The
infant building dates from the last century. As part of a BBC “SmartTV”
production, concrete slabs inlaid with handprints of all the children
in school were placed around the walls.
Ambleside
Primary School has it's own busy and thriving Nursery. Many of the
children go on to join our Reception class.
The
children from the Infant and Nursery departments can enjoy our wonderful
garden and nature area. This is a beautiful and safe place any time
of year. It will soon be planted with willow beds and bowers as
part of a project involving the National Trust.
One
feature of our school that never escapes the attention of passers
by is our huge map of the UK. It was made by eight Year 5 children
as part of a Geography project. It features all the capital cities
and important rivers as well as famous Roman features such as Hadrians
Wall.
