Loading & Saving
These instruction work for nearly every program on our Windows 95 computers. Once you have learned them you will be on your way to being a true CYBERKID!
Loading means making a piece of work reappear on screen so that you can print it or do some more work to it.
Saving your work means that you are making a copy of your work onto a disk, either inside the computer or on a floppy disk. That work is usually saved inside a space called a FOLDER. When you are loading and saving you might have to open different folders to find the one you want.
THE ICONS
These icons are the ones used for starting a new page, opening folders and saving work.

The starting a new page icon is easy to use.
LOADING A PAGE
Loading a saved page is a bit more complicated.

When you click on the open icon you will see a window similar to the one above. Usually you will see the file you want in the list. Just click on it to select it then click the OPEN button. Easy!
SAVING YOUR WORK
You can use the SAVE ICON that looks like a floppy disk to save your work or you can click on the FILE MENU and choose SAVE.

When you have chosen SAVE you will see a new window appear.

This window lets you choose the place where you want to save your work.
When you are sure you are in the right FOLDER to save your work then enter a FILE NAME. (see the 5 Golden Rules) This name will be used to identify your work and it should be easy to recognise.

When you are sure everything looks correct, then click on SAVE and your work is instantly stored.
Well that's it try another lesson!
