What is BTCC?
BTCC stands for the British Touring Car Championship. It is a series of motor races in all held in Great Britain. The competing cars are all those bought in car showrooms like Ford Mondeos, Honda Accords, Nissan Primeras and Vauxhall Vectras. But they have one big difference. They are all heavily modified for extra power and extra safety. Four titles are up for grabs.
1. Driver
2. Manufacturer
3. Team
4. Entrant/Constructor
I think BTCC is the best motorsport there is because all of the races are in Britain and it's affordable to go to them. Kids get in free (unfortunately adults have to cough up £25). The cars are more evenly matched so you get exciting battling and jostling for position throughout the race, unlike the sometimes processional Formula 1. Because Renault, Nissan and Volvo left last year, the TOCA package introduced 'class B' with national saloon cars. There are 7 drivers entering this year including Nowegien ace Roger Moen who entered the BTCC in 98 as a privareteer driver in a desireable Alain Menu's 97 championship winning Renault Laguna! This years class B front runners inlude Fords 99 test driver Alan Morrinson and two BTCC vetterens, Mark Lemmer and James Kaye.
